Godfall announced for PS5 and PC; watch the trailer here

The upcoming Xbox Series X console may have been the most surprising announcement during The Game Awards presentation last night but there were other great reveals last night. One such announcement comes to us from Gearbox Software – the makers of Borderlands 3 – and they showed us something special last night. It’s called Godfall and it is coming to the PS5 as well as PC via the Epic Games Store.

The fine folks over at Gearbox Software also dropped a trailer for the game which shows footage captured in-engine. You can watch the trailer for yourself below:

As you might expect from the studio that brought us Borderlands, Godfall is an RPG with a strong emphasis on finding and using powerful loot. Don’t expect to find any legendary guns this time around though. This game is a fantasy RPG with characters who primarily rely on slashing attacks. The loot you can find consists of armor and presumably weapons. One character in the trailer can be seen brandishing a sword with some kind of fire buff. By completing challenges and defeating bosses you can earn increasingly more powerful loot.

“[W]e want to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so we plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there’s meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles,” said Keith Lee, the Creative Director for Godfall.

Godfall will not provide a first person perspective in game. You control your characters through a third person perspectve. If you are a lone wolf type you can play the game solo but there will be options to team up with one or two of your friends for co-op action.

You will be able to get your hands on Godfall during the 2020 holiday shopping season. Sorry Xbox and Nintendo fans – the game was announced as a PS5 console exclusive. If you have a gaming PC you will be able to play it through the Epic Games Store.
