Fallout 76…….Fallout 76 never changes for the better it seems. Bethesda has been doing nothing but playing damage control ever since Fallout 76 launched and data miners on Reddit seem to have uncovered a move that would surely only make things worse; Loot Boxes.
Bethesda seems to have incorporated the change in the last patch they did on December 11th, inserting “lunchboxes” into the code. Lunchboxes was the term used in the mobile/PC game Fallout Shelter for loot boxes. The code seems to also have “ATX” attached to them, which is the code for the Atom Shop in Fallout 76 meaning they can presumably be bought with the premium currency offered by Fallout 76, Atoms.
If the code is correct though, Lunchboxes can be found out in the wild as well. Once found they’re supposed to give off a celebratory sound/animation much like when you found the Vault Tec lunchboxes in Fallout 4. They seem to offer random bonuses such as an increase to carry weight or damage. There’s also the chance that perk cards are getting removed or will become available for purchase with Atoms via the Atom shop.
I’d like to stress that none of this is official at the moment and data miners had to dig to find the information. We all know how well loot boxes have worked out over the years; never being a source of contempt or controversy. Again, Bethesda has not said anything about loot boxes becoming a part of Fallout 76 and this is just something data miners have uncovered.
Personally, I think Bethesda needs to worry about putting out fresh content for the game before even considering loot boxes. The game grows stale after accomplishing many of the missions/quests offered, the events around the map aren’t that rewarding to do-often resulting of complete avoidance of the area until the event goes away-and the building of a C.A.M.P is laughable at best considering the small budget for buildings/items you have. I’m currently a merely level 80 and can only seem to aimlessly walk around for an hour before moving on to another game. At least Destiny 2 has a weekly reset for maintenance and refreshing of bounties and other activities. Maybe Bethesda should do the same with Fallout 76?
