EverEmber Is a Nostalgic Nod to Older MMOs

Do you remember the days of top down RPGs like ChronoTrigger and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past? Maybe even early Ultima Online? Well, EverEmber will bring you back to those good ol’ days. EverEmber is an MMO that brings some interesting quirks to the MMO game mechanics we’ve all probably gotten a bit bored with by now.

It’s concept with monthly resets of player characters, skill and item based combat(with level caps), no microtransactions (can’t pay to win), open world PvP everywhere, hardcore loot system (where upon death you drop everything for whoever killed you to loot), and other game mechanic systems, like the Ember Castle, are a unique twist on the MMORPG formula.

With the developers at Astronomical Games trying to make the game accessible to everyone, and every location being PvP, putting in 500hrs and grinding out everything doesn’t automatically make you the biggest and baddest player around. You’ll have to know how to use your character and equipment and be confident you’re more skillful than the random you encounter out in the wild. With PvP everywhere it’s tempting to just be a rogue; trying to kill everyone you see and take their loot. You’ll want to be careful about taking the criminal route, it can get you banned from the towns in the game and have roaming parties of “good” players hunting you down. The completely player driven economy makes crafting and selling items more meaningful other than offering a way to gear yourself up and kill time.

EverEmber officially went online on November 25th, 2018 at 2 p.m. EST/7PM GMT. You can go to their homepage right here and check out all the info there is to offer about the game.

Or you can watch their EverEmber Reborn trailer here:

It seems like it might be an interesting game to give a try and I’m sure they’d love to have you there as well. Sometimes it’s nice to support the lesser known creators out there.

35 year old gamer. Father of one, got a wife around here somewhere too. Haha. I've been gaming since '88. I feel I've reached some weird "Old Gamer" paradigm in my life where I usually only end up playing for a few hours of out the day, and if people didn't know better, they'd probably call me a filthy casual. I'm more of a grizzled veteran who has been there and done that and nothing really has the wow factor it once did. RPG's are my jam, Western RPG's mainly. I like a good JRPG too though. Might fight you over Fallout.
