Trachtenberg departs Uncharted film; PlayStation Productions takes over

Dan Trachtenberg – previoudly announced as director for the Uncharted film adaptation – has parted ways with the production according to a report on Deadline. The studio is said to be hastily searching for a new director and hopesnto have one signed within the next month or so. The production is scheduled to begin early next year.

Interestingly enough, the Uncharted film is said be the first movie to be trotted out under the banner of PlayStation Productions – the recently announced subsidiary established by Sony for the express purpose of adapting popular PlayStation gaming franchises into movies.

The Uncharted movie will feature Tom Holland of Spider-Man fame as a young Nathan Drake who will grow into his role as a treasure hunting rogue. The script was penned by
Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
