Perhaps the worst kept secret of this E3 has officially been revealed. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was finally shown off at Ubisoft’s E3 conference. A crossover with Mario has been a dream project for the Ubisoft teams for a long time; Nintendo has finally caved in with one condition, the game couldn’t be a platformer. So Ubisoft took that very seriously as the game is now a strategy game, much more similar to X-Com than the average Mario or Rabbids games.
The game will feature Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi as playable characters with Rabbids dressed up as those 4 as playable characters as well. Kingdom Battle will feature tactical gameplay where you set-up your characters in different positions to fight battles; it seems like you’ll have to plan wisely to make your way throughout this game.
A line of Amiibos for the Rabbid characters will also launch alongside the game.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle launches exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on August 29.
