Google had (and still has) a lot to prove to the gaming industry and players with Stadia. With that said, it looks like they have put a lot of thought into their new gaming platform and have been working closely with notable software developers such as id Software. In fact, id’s executive producer – Marty Stratton – took to the stage at Google’s GDC press conference and announced that Doom Eternal would be playable on on Stadia. Even more impressively, the game will run at 4k resolution at a blistering fast 60 frames per second with HDR support.
You will not need a console to play Doom Eternal on Stadia. The platform will work on your existing television, computer or phone. You will even be able to use your existing USB controller if you want to or you will be able to use the new Stadia controller. No word as of yet how much bandwidth will be needed to stream the game at 4k resolution. When I played >Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey through Project Stream I burned through over 50GB of bandwidth. At the very least you can expect streaming games in 4k resolution with HDR to consume significantly more of your data bandwidth.
There is currently no announced release date for the Stadia version of Doom Eternal. We hope that it will release day and date with the other versions of the game. The Inner Circle will of course let you know when the Stadia version will be released when it is announced.
