One of the quirkier games shown at E3 2017 Xbox conference last year was Deep Rock Galactic. What started as a concept at studio Press Play was resurrected after the studio closed, and is now being developed by Ghost Ship Games. Featuring a cast of dwarves, the gameplay revolves around drilling down through a procedurally-generated network of caves, killing monsters, acquiring rare minerals, and getting back out. Sound pretty cool? If you want to try it out soon, you’re in luck, as Ghost Ship Games has announced that Deep Rock Galactic hits early access this month.
It will be released on Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access simultaneously on February 28th, 2018. The Game Preview release includes Windows 10, as Deep Rock Galactic is a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program.
Mikkel Martin Peterson, co-founder of Ghost Ship Games, had this to say about the Xbox Game Preview release:Â
This launch dwarfs anything we’ve done before (pun intended)! We’ve enhanced the game for the Xbox One X with improved resolution and HDR and we also support Xbox Play Anywhere, featuring cross-save, cross-play and buy once, play anywhere across Xbox One and Windows 10.
We can’t wait to work with the community to see how much further we can take the game. In all seriousness, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any and all feedback, it’s all of your efforts that can help us make Deep Rock Galactic the best co-op shooter in the galaxy for our full commercial launch in 2019!
