We have been enjoying a wealth of new information about the upcoming zombie survival title, State of Decay 2 from Undead Labs. One of the more surprising announcements about the game was its price – a relatively modest $29.99 for the standard version of the game. This caused some concern from players regarding the possibility of microtransactions.
The developers of the game addressed this concern during a live stream event. You can watch it here:
The developers state that there are no plans for microtransactions in State of Decay 2 but there will be paid DLC as we saw with the first game in the series.
The game is set during the second year of the zombie epidemic. Survivors will be much more familiar with the undead by now. Expect improvements to the game such as loot that is appropriate to the location where it was found. For example, searching a medical facility will result in finding more medicinal items whereas a military vehicle will have more weapons or ammo for you to find.
The difficulty in State of Decay 2 will obviously rise when your survivors gain in experience but the game will not be more difficult if other players join you for some co-op fun. Finally, loot chests will be generated for your character and for every other player in your game. While players can see loot containers intended for others, they can only open their own designated chests so you don’t have to worry about others making off with your gear. You can still share loot with other players if you want to though.
State of Decay 2 on May 22nd. It will also be available on Microsoft’s subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.
