The official trailer for Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw was released today and as a big fan of the Fast & Furious franchise I was excited to see it. You can watch it for yourself below:
As you can see, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw respectively. If you have never seen a Fast & Furious before then you would be forgiven for thinking that looks like a formulaic “buddy cop” film with two characters who dislike each other intensely but have to work together. You wouldn’t even be all of that wrong but the two characters have a bit of history together from earlier films in the franchise – especially after 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. This time they are hunting down a rogue Ghost named Brixton whose body appears to have undergone some sort of genetic modification to improve his strength and speed. He is played by Idris Elba who you may recognize from The Dark Tower and Avengers: Infinity War.
I know what you’re thinking. A genetically modified villain in a Fast & Furious spin-off movie sounds a bit goofy. My response would be that the franchise has always been a little goofy! It is more or less a live action reenactment of how young boys played with their Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.
What did you think of the trailer for Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw? Are you going to see the movie when it is released this summer? I know I will be there early.
