There is no doubt that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games from CD Projekt Red, developers of the Witcher 3 which is considered to be the gold standard this generation for RPGs. In an interview from Bankier.pl a Polish financial website, Adam Kicinski, President of CD Projekt Red, talked in detail about what the future would hold for the company. While there was a large focus on the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, there was an interesting quote in regards to what the future may hold for The Witcher franchise.
And finally the question that all players ask themselves:
The first three “Witchers” were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game “The Witcher 4”. This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher, created by us for over a dozen years, who love and still demand players around the world. “The Witcher” is one of two franchises on which to build in the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more.
If CD Projekt Red says The Witcher will be built on in the future, another big game seems like a foregone conclusion. This certainly seems to hint that we could be looking forward to another game in The Witcher universe, which is very exciting for fans of the franchise. While this will be a long way off, in terms of when this would be playable, it is reassuring to know that we will see a future game set in the deep world of The Witcher.Â
