Bungie Outlines Destiny 2 Development

Bungie has outlines what they feel is the best path forward for Destiny 2. After hearing the fans talk about the unfair practices they experienced in the game, Bungie has made some changes.

Destiny 2 Game Director Chris Barrett went into great detail about the changes that will be coming to the game. They started off with the issues that really caused so many players grief – the idea that players had to keep purchasing the expansions to enjoy events like Faction Rallies.

Players now can see how the game will work with expansions and seasons. In seasons, players will get the chance to participate in Iron Banner, Faction Rallies, Seasonal Events, and Endgame Playlists no matter what DLC they own. The seasons rewards will also be available for all players who have purchased an expansion. Now if you keep buying expansions you will get all the normal content that comes with it. So if you don’t buy the DLC then you wont get the chance to travel to new places and see how the story continues. Below is a picture to help you get an idea of what is going on.

The last part is how Evervese has become the place for players to buy new content. In The Dawning it was becoming harder for players to unlock all the items unless they went and payed real money for it. That caused quite a stir online. So Bungie will be making it easier for players to get these items like Ghosts, Ships, and Speeders through Bright Engrams instead of those that you have to purchase with money. Bungie is still looking into the XP problem as Barrett stated in the blog post:

We are still investigating changes to XP earn rates. Our goal with any updates to XP are transparency and consistent XP gain regardless of your preferred activity.

So currently players will have to wait and see. Hopefully this will help some players stay in Destiny 2. Right now plenty of players have either traded in the game or just ignored it. This is only the first in a series of articles detailing some of the things Bungie is talking about for Destiny 2.
