Ashen has received a stylish new 4K trailer at Microsoft’s E3 2017 conference in Los Angeles. Despite the lack of introduction from Phil Spencer, the game looks like a truly unique experience thanks to its immersive story telling and niche art direction.
The trailer puts a particular emphasis on there being two individuals on the screen at one time meaning cooperative gameplay may be possible. Huge boss battles, survival-style exploration and strategic fighting seem to make up the crux of the gameplay.
Originally revealed at the ID@Xbox program in 2015, Ashen quickly caught the imagination of indie aficionados due to inspiration from the likes of Brothers A Tale of Two Sons and Dark Souls.Â
Ashen is an action role-playing game is about a wanderer in search of a place to call home. There is no sun, and the only natural light comes from eruptions that cover the land in ash. This is a world where nothing lasts, no matter how tightly you cling to it. At its core, Ashen is about forging relationships. Players can guide those they trust to their camp — together, you might just stand a chance.
No release date has been given for Ashen, but we do know that it’s coming to Xbox as a console launch exclusive – meaning it’ll likely appear on other platforms after a certain period of time. According to the game’s official site, it will also be heading to PC.
