Crunchyroll and Webtoons Announce Partnership

sMajor anime streaming service Crunchyroll and digital comic publisher Webtoons have announced a major partnership. This partnership will develop and co-produce animated content. By doing this, fans will get potential animated series such as The God of Highschool, Un-ordinary, Zero Game, Dice,  and the recently announced anime adaptations of Tower of God and Noblesse.

Now, some of you may be wondering what about Solo Leveling? Unfortunately, even though Solo Leveling is a Webtoons comic it isn’t under the digital publisher. So keep your fingers crossed that the series finds its way in getting an adaptation. Regardless, I’m personally extremely excited to see a lot of these potential series come to life.

The general manager at Crunchyroll, Joanna Waage, had this to say on the strategic partnership: “We are extremely excited to be partnering with WEBTOON … WEBTOON has a tremendous catalogue of content and creators that resonate deeply with our audience and we can’t think of a better way to delight fans than by bringing these stories to life through animation.”

Taylor Grant, the SVP of IP Development also shared a few words: “There is tremendous crossover appeal with our audiences … and exceptional creative synergy on the types of stories we want to tell. We’re excited to partner with Crunchyroll to bring our globally appealing characters to audiences and consumers in new ways, as well as create new opportunities for our talented creators.”

Let us know your thoughts on the partnership in the comment section below as well as what series will you be looking forward to in the future.
