Agent Carter Cancellation On The Horizon?

It looks like more bad news for fans of Peggy Carter with the show rumoured to be on death row. Whilst season 2 of the hit Marvel show has received glowing reviews, it’s viewer numbers have been at rock bottom. The first season had views consistently on par with that of ABC’s other show Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D, however the sequel season has simply not achieved the same level of success. Especially disappointing is the fact that Marvel Television Studios and ABC seemingly chose not to market season 2 in any major way, with only one trailer and a few TV spots.

The trigger for current speculation is the announcement last week that Hayley Attwell has been cast in another ABC show Conviction and, whilst this alone won’t cause schedule conflicts, it will add more pressure onto already shaky ground. It’s looking as if now the only thing that will save Agent Carter is a direct order for season 3 from Disney. Disney have been the parent company of ABC since a company merger in 1995.

After the end of the first season of Agent Carter there was a large fan push to get the show renewed but it’s unclear if this will be enough a second time around. The final episode of Agent Carter season 2 will be on March 1st.
