This past weekend Spider-Man: Far From Home took the top spot. The newer movies didn’t even stand a chance as the Marvel juggernaut continues to dominate the box office. The movie did gross $45 million as it sits at $274 million domestically. Spider-Man: Far From Home should be able to pass that billion mark as it sits at $844 million world-wide.
Toy Story 4 took in $20.9 million as it continues to print money for Disney. Crawl and Stuber both came in at the third and fourth place on the list. The horror movie Crawl brought in $12 million while the comedy Stuber only took in $8.2 million. It seems that newer movies that don’t have a storied franchise behind them are not doing well this year.
Weekend Top Three
3. Crawl $12 million
2. Toy Story 4 $20.9 million
1. Spider-Man: Far From Home $45 million
The only movie coming out next weekend in a large number of theaters is The Lion King remake. No matter what anyone says this movie will be making plenty of money for Disney. In fact if you look at the top 5 movie in the world or domestically for this year, you will notice that they are all apart of the Disney brand. From Avengers: Endgame to Aladdin Disney has taken over the box office this year.
Hopefully everyone has a great week. I know this article was a day later than usual. I’ve been working nights and switching back to days each week for the last three weeks. So at this point I’m just happy to be able to know what month it is. Don’t forget that on Friday players will be able to enjoy some Gears of War 5.
