Obsidian Entertainment is set to deliver an expansion called The Forgotten Sanctum for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire tomorrow and a new trailer was just released to whet your appetites for the adventure to come. You can watch the trailer below:
It seems that a massive earthquake has revealed an ancient dungeon hidden on the islands of the Deadfire. A powerful archmage has entered the dungeon and vanished. The archmage’s presence could awaken something that has been down there for a very long time. As the Watcher, your mission is to investigate what happened and unravel the mystery of the sanctum.
The good people over at Obsidian Entertainment say that The Forgotten Sanctum will be very challenging for veteran players of Pillars of Eternity and as usual, the decisions you make will impact the story.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Pillar of Eternity games, they are isometric RPGs in a fantasy setting. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire was funded through a crowdfunding campaign in 2017 and was released earlier this year for the current generation of consoles as well as Windows, MacOS and Linux computers. The base game enjoys a widely positive reception but has struggled in sales.
