PC gamers will finally have an opportunity to join the awesome-pocalypse. It seems that Sunset Overdrive – a 2014 title developed by Insomniac Games and published by Microsoft – is headed to the Windows 10 store. The tip-off was an all new ESRB rating created specifically for Windows 10. If you’re curious, the ESRB gave the PC version an “M” rating due to “Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence.” The Xbox One version of the game received a similar rating meaning the experience should be largely identical between platforms.
The fine folks over at Windows Central did some digging and have confirmed that Sunset Overdrive is indeed nearing release on the Windows 10 store. No word as of yet whether the game will be available on other distributors like Steam.
The timing of this news is particularly interesting. Sunset Overdrive was originally released in 2014 and other than showing up as a Games with Gold title has seemingly received scant attention from Microsoft. Given the fact that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has recently announced that the subscription service Game Pass is coming to PC – does this mean that there is in fact a future for Sunset Overdrive on the Xbox platform? I would personally love to see the game get some Xbox One X enhancements and maybe even be added to the Game Pass library.
