There is no doubt that many people are excited for the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy, whether its pure nostalgia or a new generation of gamers experiencing the games for the first time. In a bizarre move from Activision has left some people scratching their head asking, why? Twitter user Nibellion pointed out ff you purchase Spyro Reignited Trilogy physical copy only the first game is included on the disk. Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of The Dragon are digital downloads even with the physical copy. This is a strange move that may, unfortunately, sway some people from purchasing the game depending on the download size.

While as a consumer this seems like a strange practice, there could be a couple of reasons the trilogy is being handled this way. The first and most obvious reason would be that Activision wants to cut down on people purchasing the game second hand or used through places likes Gamestop. With 2/3’s of the trilogy tied to digital download, this would hugely decrease its trade-in value as well as making used copies very undesirable for consumers. There is also a possibility that the game file size for all three games could be to large to fit on to one disc. However, this seems less likely as Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy managed to contain all 3 games on one physical disc. With no official word from Activision at this time, all we have is speculation at this point.
