During this years Bethesda’s E3 conference, Bethesda announced several new things coming for Fallout 76. The best part is that it’s all free for those who own the game.

The first announcement was for Year Two’s update, which has been given the title of Wastelanders. While year one focused on the players exploring a world by themselves and settling the wasteland, year two is going to focus on interactions with newly added NPC’s.

In Wastelanders, new NPC characters enter the Fallout 76 universe that players can interact with. Each NPC is going to have their own goals and quests for the players. It’s suggested that siding with different NPC characters will give you different consequences and outcomes for your world. It’s very possible that this is going to be similar to other Fallout titles where you can choose who you want to side with at the end of the game, and how your choices can have consequences

In addition to the new NPC characters, Wastelanders is also going to offer players new gear, new weapons, and lots of new questlines.

In addition to year two gameplay, Bethesda has also announced a new game mode for Fallout 76: Nuclear Winter, which will be a battle royal game mode for the Fallout title.

Vault 51 doesn’t have an Overseer present, and it’s your job to fight for that position. Nuclear Winter will be a 52 player battle royal, and the trailer suggests that there will be building mechanics as well as elements of the wasteland to interfere while you battle to the death. Whoever is the last man standing is to be the next Overseer for Vault 51.

While there’s no set release date for this update, Bethesda announced that it would be available in fall of this year. They also confirmed that both Wastelanders and Nuclear Winter will be free for players who already own Fallout 76.

In the meantime, Bethesda is offering a free trial week for players to get a taste of these new additions. Players who own Fallout 76 can play from June 10th until June 17th for free to get a first look at what the update will include.
