Microsoft Developing A New And Accessible Controller

It is easy for many of us to take our video game controllers for granted but have you ever wondered how somebody who only has use of one hand or a visual impairment might use it to play video games? It can be difficult for some people to enjoy video games the way we do and apparently Microsoft has been working on a new type of controller that can bring our hobby to those with different accessibility requirements. Have a look for yourself:

It is probably safe to assume that the two large face buttons can be programmed. There are smaller buttons along the top of the controller and apparently this device has all of the features of a regular controller. It appears that there is a USB port on the left side. It is likely there for charging the battery but I am wondering if some other input like a microphone or a breath controller can be connected through that USB port.

Just to be clear, some people have been able to play video games with a regular controller despite their physical challenges. This player enjoys Killer Instinct despite his blindness. Even so, it is nice to see a console maker working to bring video games to more people.

Thanks, Windows Central.
