AT&T Plans To Buy Out Otter Media

It has been reported that communications giant AT&T plans to buy out all of Otter Media’s content. Most may find this odd since AT&T currently co-owns Otter Media with another company known as The Cherin Group. So what exactly does this mean for us and how does this effect Crunchyroll? Well, Otter Media owns Crunchyroll’s parent company – Ellation – and with the acquisition AT&T will control over Fullscreen Network and the anime streaming service Crunchyroll.

The deal is expected to close this summer. It was also reported that last November AT&T had plans to make a deal in order to acquire Otters Media. However, due to the recent acquisition of Time Warner the deal was put on the back burner. There is no telling what AT&T plans to do with Otter Media or whether it will have an effect on Crunchyroll. For now we will just have to wait and see.
