Sony removes release date for Masters of the Universe movie

Sony has quietly removed all references to release date for the Masters of the Universe movie from the company’s official listings according to ScreenRant. The news was originally broken by Aaron Couch of The Hollywood Reporter. You can see Aaron’s tweet for yourself below:

This should not be shocking news as development for the movie has been dragging for literally years.

The March 5th, 2021 release date originally held by Masters of the Universe has instead been assigned to the Uncharted movie which stars Tom Holland of Spider-Man fame. That movie has also been stuck in development Hell for quite some time. As of this writing, no fewer than six directors have been attached to the Uncharted film.

It is not clear what this development means for the fate of the Masters of the Universe movie. Has the film been canceled? We are assuming that it hasn’t because nothing has officially been announced. We will be sure to update you on what is going on with the movie when details become available.

If you are really desperate for new adventures featuring He-Man and the gang, don’t despair. An animated series called Masters of the Universe: Revelations is coming to Netflix. It is a sequel series to the old 80’s cartoon and it may be available later this year. The new series is being produced by the same studio that brought us the excellent Castlevania anime.
