Rise of the Tomb Raider Gets Endurance Mode

Rise of the Tomb Raider, the latest instalment in popular adventure series, has been given an update in the form of a much more realistic game mode.

The Endurance mode brings a much more grim (but awesome looking ) experience to the game and tasks main character Lara with doing what she does best, only with no possessions on her. Lara must explore relics and find artifacts, but along the way must also stave off hunger and make fires to stay warm in the harsh, cold environment she finds herself in.

The post, which can be found on xbox.com reads “Alone and in the wild, Lara must scrounge, scavenge, craft and survive the harsh elements by day, as well as lethal threats from enemies, both man and beast, by night. This is her ultimate woman-versus-wild test to push the limits of how long she can survive on her own in sprawling, unforgiving landscapes.”. Also included in this DLC is a new weapon and a new outfit for Lara, because that’s what everyone needs when attempting to survive in the cold forest alone right? (Although in all seriousness it is a nice touch to the DLC).

This update comes as part of the game’s DLC, so is included in the game’s season pass. But if you do not own a season pass Endurance mode can be bought on it’s own for £7.99. What with the season pass being only £19.99, if the remaining DLC due out in 2016 will be like this I’d personally go for the season pass (it’s only £12 extra).

Check out the Kotaku video below for the tutorial level of Endurance mode.
