Review: Baba Yaga – The Temple of the Witch DLC (Rise of the Tomb Raider)(Xbox One)

Rise of the Tomb Raider was one of my all time favorite games this generation, and for good reason. By combining mouth watering visuals with exceptional gameplay, Rise of the Tomb Raider not only made me want more, but made me a lifetime Tomb Raider fan. While nothing changed on the visual side, the story continues with some interesting twists.

If you’ve played Rise of the Tomb Raider, you’d know that sometimes you come accross allies in the game world, which gives you additional missions that can unlock unique items. The Baba Yaga DLC adds a special side mission. As Lara Croft you come accross bloody trails of someone being chased by the Templars. Once you find the mystery person she explains that you have to find her grandfather who have been seen going after the legend of The Witch Baba Yaga, who apparently killed her grandmother.

Right off the bat the gameplay was familiar, and in some cases challenging. Especially during the final mission sequence where you’re facing Baba Yaga, it was pretty difficult to defeat the witch, as it’s one of the more difficult missions I’ve had to face in Rise of the Tomb Raider, and that includes the final sequence in the main game.

Rise of the Tomb Raider remains my Game of the Year for 2015, and this DLC just gives me more reason to love it. Rise of the Tomb Raider gives you plenty to do after you’ve ended the main game, and with the latest expansion Endurance Mode, you’ll be spending weeks trying to master the elements.

Rise of the Tomb Raider Baba Yaga DLC is available now on Xbox One. The game also launches on PC/Steam/Windows 10 today, so if you have been holding out on one of the best games of 2015, you better go grab it.
