Netflix has announced that the popular card game and novel Magic the Gathering will be getting an animated series the platform. The directors of the highly successful Avengers: Endgame Joe and Anthony Russo will be spearheading the project. In the past, there have been multiple attempts in order to bring Magic to the big screen but could never get things going. The Russo brothers will oversee the creation of the storyline that will expand the universe of the series.
When asked about the opportunity to work on the series the Russo brothers stated that “We have been huge fans and players of Magic: The Gathering for as long as it has been around, so being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us.” However, the Russo brothers aren’t the only talent that Netflix has brought on. They’ve gathered a bunch of creative minds from series like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Batman: The Animated Series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Firefly, Agent Carter, Ultimate Spider-Man, and The Lego Movies.
