Boo 2! A Madea Halloween Wins a Struggling Box Office

The box office was all about the Halloween movies over the weekend. Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween was the top movie. Happy Death Day dropped down to third while the other new release, Geostorm, took second.

With the an estimated $21.5 million in its first weekend, Boo 2! A Madea Halloween is the number one movie this weekend. I just have never been able to get into most of the Madea movies. It seems though Blade Runner 2049 just doesn’t seem to connect with any large audience as it drops down to fourth. In fact, if you look at the full list of movies it just seems no one is really going out and spending large amounts of money on these the cinema. Happy Death Day is still making a killing as it added $9.3 million to its impressive world wide total of $53 million. This movie shows that a small budget ($4 million) can bring in some serious cash.

Weekend Top Five

5. Only the Brave $6 million

4. Blade Runner 2049 $7 million

3. Happy Death Day $9 million

2. Geostorm $13 million

1. Boo 2! A Madea Halloween $21.5 million

It looks like October is shaping up to be just like August. The moves that are being released really haven’t brought in the money the studios are looking for. It seems that studios will be pulling moves earlier if they don’t preform at the box office. Three movies will be releasing nationwide next weekend. The Saw reboot Jigsaw, Suburbicon, and Thank You for Your Service will be looking to take a place in the top ten. The movie that most of us are waiting for is coming on November 3rd, you know that you need to see the Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok. If you’re looking for trailers this week, I wont be posting any here. Not that we didn’t have any good ones, I’m just going to split that into its own article.
