The creator of the anime film Your Name, Makoto Shinkai’s latest film Weathering With You, has been confirmed to come to the U.S on January 17th. Along with the announcement of the film making its way to the West, we also received an English subtitled trailer that you can check out below. The film opened in Japan on July 19th and has since grossed 13,508,909,400 yen which is about US$125 million.

If you havent heard of the film before here is a brief synopsis fro GKIDS: “The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong­willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…”
